Why is My Kitchen Faucet Leaking Hot Water?

A kitchen faucet can leak hot water if the valve inside is damaged. The valves on your faucet handle should have a diverter that directs water to another fixture. Diverter valves are commonly found in bathtub showers. To fix the leak, you need to remove the cartridge and replace the rubber seals. Otherwise, you may need to replace the entire valve. It will cost you a lot of money to replace the valves.

Call the manufacturer

The best way to replace a faucet is to call the manufacturer and order new parts. If you don’t know how to do this, you may try buying a replacement kit. These kits come with all of the parts needed to repair a faucet. Remove the handle by prying off the small index cover with a pocketknife or screwdriver and unscrew the hex-head screw.

Use pliers

You may have a loose collar. Remove it using pliers. Once you have loosened the collar, remove the old O-rings and replace them with new ones. Use heatproof plumber’s grease to grease the new O-rings. Once you’ve replaced the O-rings, tighten the collar with a spanner wrench. If the leak is coming from the faucet handle, you can try replacing the handle with a new one.

Replace the O-ring

If the problem persists, you may have to replace the faucet’s cartridge or replace the O-ring and washer. To do this, you’ll need a hex wrench to lift out the rubber seat. Next, unscrew the retaining clip and nut. Remove the cartridge and replace it with a new one. Don’t forget to apply plumber’s grease when reassembling.

After identifying the part or parts that cause the leaking, you’ll need to replace the rubber washers or O-rings. You can easily find the replacement parts from a local hardware store, or you can call the manufacturer. Sometimes, some brands offer lifetime warranty on their faucets and even supply replacement cartridges for free. Otherwise, you can purchase new ones by visiting the manufacturer’s website. You should also take the worn parts to a home repair store so you can purchase exact duplicates.

Replace the faucet
